Story tech for Meow Wolf’s Omega Mart.
As the Digital Storytelling Manager for Meow Wolf’s Digital division, I worked in partnership with the EVP of Technology to lead a team of game designers and creative technologists to deliver a range of digital projects. One of my favorite projects is the Omega Access pass.
The Omega Access pass is a card-based RFID system that facilitates a personalized, choose-your-own-adventure style experience for visitors looking for deep exploration of Omega Mart’s story-world. With the attractions taxonomy of “skimmers,” “paddlers,” and “divers” in mind, we designed Omega Access primarily to drive return visits and opportunities for divers to learn more about the characters and sub-plots in the Omega Mart multiverse.
Throughout the exhibit, visitors scan their access passes at RFID checkpoints to access mini-games, trigger environmental state changes, choose character profiles, acquire inventory objects and more. Return visitors can use their Omega Access cards to save their accomplishments and pick up their progress from their last visit.
