Project Overview
Working in collaboration with Good Afternoon, I provided strategic consulting for University College London’s Faculty of Engineering to develop their 6 day Festival of Engineering in the summer of 2024. The university’s ambitious vision was to create an inclusive festival celebrating engineering, sustainability, science, and technology that would engage diverse audiences beyond the traditional academic community.
My Role & Contributions
I advised the organization across multiple strategic areas:
Audience Development & Outreach
- Developed strategies to reach broad, diverse audiences extending beyond academic circles
- Created targeted outreach approaches for connecting with specific community segments
- Advised on inclusive programming and accessibility considerations
Spatial Design & Experience
- Consulted on exhibiting artworks and projects in visually compelling ways
- Leveraged UCL’s iconic landmarks and existing programs to enhance visitor experience
- Integrated venue architecture into the overall festival narrative
Digital Strategy
- Advised on digital outreach components and online engagement
- Collaborated on app development including interactive maps and wayfinding features
- Integrated augmented reality elements to enhance physical exhibits
- Developed comprehensive digital marketing and communication strategies
Programming & Messaging
- Provided input on interpretive strategy and key messaging frameworks
- Advised on festival programming structure and content curation
- Helped shape the overall visitor journey and experience design
Outcome
The festival successfully launched in July 2025, incorporating the projects and participation of 364 UCL faculty and staff, and attracting 7,000 attendees from across London.
